Do I need Wedding Favors?

Wedding favors are completely optional and not expected these days. If you want to give your guests something a little extra to thank them for coming, here are some options to consider.

Something edible

Edible favors are a great option, aren’t too costly, and are easy to assemble. Offering the favorite cookies of both the bride and groom will get everyone talking about their favorite childhood snacks. If your hosting your wedding at a winery, you could give chocolates such as truffles infused with the properties wine. Your caterer or baker can easily whip up these customizable treats. We’ve also seen wedding goody bags “to go” that include a bag of chips, water/soda, and a candy bar – great treats to have on the ride home!

Something Homemade

A lot of couples enjoy doing many hobbies/projects together. We’ve seen couples make homemade jam or infused olive oil which double as an escort card holder tied to the gift. Another easy project is something planted such as a mini succulent (easy to take care of!) or a packet of flower seeds that the guests can plant at home.

Fun Activity

Photobooths are always a big hit at events, especially with all the fun props and backdrops that are provided! Most photobooth companies will keep one copy for the bride and groom and place in a photobook that guests can write in. A copy of the photo(s) is given to the guests of their photobooth shenanigans! Also, super fun for the couple to see the candid photos the next day in their photobook.

Donation in lieu of Favor

Many couples have a foundation or cause that they’re passionate about from The American Heart Society to a Local Humane Society. Couples will often put a note on the menu about the cause they are donating to and why it is important to them, or sometimes, the charity that is being donated to will send notecards to be placed on the dining tables.

***Insider tip: Speaking of donations: If there is left over food from your event, ask the caterer to donate to a local shelter and ask for the florals to be given to a local hospital or assisted living senior center the next day.
